Design Engineer

AH is seeking design engineers to perform environmental engineering design projects, such as treatment plant upgrades, pressure and gravity pipe systems, lift station, stream restorations, and stormwater management. Positions available in all offices. Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering (MS preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of consulting experience
  • Professional license is required (PE)
  • Flexibility both in type and location of assignments
  • Travel up to 20%, including international

Water/Wastewater Engineers

AH is seeking water and wastewater professionals with in-depth understanding of treatment processes who can manage and perform the following types of projects:

  • Drinking Water Sanitary Surveys
  • WTP evaluation and troubleshooting
  • Distribution system evaluations
  • Wastewater characterization
  • Industrial wastewater pretreatment evaluation, design and permitting
  • Process evaluations and optimization
  • WWTP process troubleshooting
  • Design (process design, pilot scale studies, selection, sizing, placement of equipment);
  • Wastewater treatment process modeling;
  • Other projects such as collection system improvements, infiltration and inflow removal, and master planning.

Positions available in all offices. Requirements include:

  • BS in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering (MS preferred)
  • At least 15 years of experience in water/wastewater treatment for a consulting firm
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Professional Engineering registration
  • Travel up to 20%, including international

Stormwater Engineers

AH has openings for stormwater engineers who will serve as Lead Engineer and Project Manager on stormwater planning, design, and compliance projects. Responsible for project management, planning and design of stormwater, Low Impact Development (LID), and Green Infrastructure facilities; and providing stormwater permit support. Positions available in our Virginia offices. Requirements include:

  • BS in Engineering (MS preferred)
  • Professional Engineering registration
  • Experienced in Chesapeake Bay Act requirements, including preparing and presenting papers on the subject
  • A minimum of fifteen years related work experience required
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • This position requires travel, typically not exceeding 20%.

Federal Business Development Director

AH is currently seeking a Federal Business Development Director to be located in our Newport News headquarters. The successful candidate will facilitate the development, management, and growth of new and existing clients to achieve revenue goals of the Company. Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and direct all aspects of the federal business development.
  • Actively research and generate contact with prospective clients through networking, cold calling, advertising, etc. to develop relationships that will lead to opportunities. Identify clients’ decision makers.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the A/E marketplace, the solutions/services the company can provide, and of the company’s competitors.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Work with administrative staff to ensure that proposals are accurate, completed within a timely manner, and professionally presented.
  • Provide review and oversight of marketing material including brochures, websites, and other promotional items.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s employees and their capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, multitasking abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and success driven; innovative and a strong team player.
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Extensive experience in a business development role with a consulting engineering, architect, planning, landscape architecture, or construction management firm.
